The goal of a lip lift is to create a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing lip shape, increase the visibility of the upper teeth, and improve overall facial harmony.
During a lip lift procedure, a small amount of skin is typically removed from the area just beneath the nose, known as the philtrum. This results in the elevation of the upper lip, exposing more of the vermilion (the colored part of the lips) and creating a fuller and more youthful appearance.
Long or Thin Upper Lip: Individuals with a long or thin upper lip may choose a lip lift to shorten the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose, creating a more balanced and proportionate appearance.
Reduced Tooth Show: Some people may have a naturally reduced visibility of their upper teeth when they smile. A lip lift can elevate the upper lip, allowing for more tooth exposure and enhancing the smile.
Signs of Aging: As individuals age, the upper lip may lengthen and lose volume. A lip lift can address these signs of aging by restoring a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the mouth area.
Desire for Lip Fullness: Individuals who desire fuller and more prominent lips may opt for a lip lift to enhance the vermilion (colored part of the lips) and create a more pronounced lip shape.
Improved Lip Definition: Some individuals may seek a lip lift to enhance the definition and contour of the upper lip, creating a more aesthetically pleasing lip shape.
Swelling and Bruising: Swelling and bruising are common after a lip lift. Apply ice packs to the treated area in the initial 24-48 hours to help reduce swelling. Keep your head elevated, even when sleeping, to minimize swelling.
Avoid Strenuous Activities: Refrain from strenuous activities and exercise for the first few days after surgery to minimize the risk of increased swelling and bruising.
Limit Facial Movements: Minimize exaggerated facial expressions and movements, especially in the initial days after the procedure, to prevent stress on the incision site.
Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect the treated area from direct sunlight. If you need to be outdoors, use sunblock and wear a hat to shield the incision area.
Avoid Smoking: If you smoke, it’s advisable to refrain from smoking during the recovery period, as smoking can impede the healing process.
Due to inflammation following surgery, there may be slight discomfort when walking or sitting. The recovery is gradual, little by little you can incorporate yourself to normal activities by your own tolerance, it is recommended to wear skirts and loose clothing in order not to exert pressure on the area.
It is not advisable to perform the operation during menstruation.
The effect is permanent.
